Beginning the countdown - three weeks to go!

It is Friday evening, June sixth. Tomorrow I hope to ride 55 miles and the next day about 75 miles. It should be an interesting, perhaps exhausting weekend. The upcoming tour is becoming more real as I had my bicycle checked thoroughly this past week. I wonder if I should also have my body and head checked over as well. It will be a time of mental conditioning about why the ride, why the effort, what drives me to do this.

I will reflect more on the why as I get closer and even during the ride. One thing the ride is not - a vacation, at least not in the generally accepted view of being a lazy, do nothing time of relaxation. I will be raising the banner of Partners Worldwide, perhaps I should say, the banner of Christ, but I would rather our words and lives make the statement for Christ rather than a highly visible statement. I will interact with hundreds, if not thousands of people. We will tell the stories of changed lives, even our lives; stories that we cannot resist telling because we are so profoundly and fundamentally changed.

One last comment this Friday evening. Thirty-four people have joined me in promises of prayer and financial support. For each of you, for your notes of encouragement, for your generous financial gifts, some of them sacrificial, for your prayers, you will never know what this means to me and more importantly, to those effected by these gifts.

More...in a couple of days. Lou
